Twyla's Friends
Our Featured Pet
Arlene
Pretty Arlene is a colorful, friendly, loving, gentle, confident girl of unknown parentage. She looks like a combination of boxer and hound or pit bull? Nobody knows for sure but she is about 45 pounds and through growing at 2 plus years of age. She is very quiet and low key kind of dog, she rarely barks and is always happy. She loves to play with her stuffed animals and she loves to snuggle to her people. She is a lovely young lady who is enjoying life with all the other dogs and people in her foster home. Not tested with cats but I think she would do better in a home without cats. Her ideal home would be a home with active adults and/or with older kids who would enjoy giving her some exercise and like a nice dog to hang out with them. She is crate trained and well house trained and current on vaccinations and spayed. A wonderful girl. To find out more about her please write Polly at plogan@cebridge.net and include information about your home, family, other pets, hours Arlene will be alone etc. We want to make a good match for this dog we love so much. Go to www.twyla.org for a map to adoption day on Saturdays from one to four p.m.in Kingwood, Texas.
Be sure and write to make sure Arlene will be there if you would like to meet her at Adoption Day
Our pets can be seen at adoption day which is Saturday. Please check our homepage on this site for directions. News
We are always in need of foster homes and help transporting and holding dogs at adoption day. If you live in or near Kingwood, we would love to have you come to Adoption Day and see if there is a job that suits you.
Twyla's Friends offers the "Prevent a Litter" (or PAL) program where we offer spays and neuters for dogs for $25. This program is for owner dogs only, not open to rescues or dogs you do not intend to keep. This is Twyla's Friends effort to help encourage dog owners to spay and neuter their pet and help decrease the local pet overpopulation problem. Be a responsible pet owner and call 832 488 7937 and leave a message or send us an email for more info. Not available if it is a high-risk surgery.
Who We Are
Twyla's Friends is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community service organization, which was started about 16 years ago. It is a dog rescue organization. All the dogs are fostered in homes. We welcome anyone willing to foster. We also need help on adoption day, Saturdays. We need people that can transport a dog to adoption day and hold them on a leash from 1-4 p.m. at the United Methodist Church on 1799 S. Woodland Hills Dr. in Kingwood, and then transport them back to the foster home. If interested, please e-mail tereje@aol.com, call the hotline at 832 488 7937, or just show up the first day at adoption day and talk to one of the volunteers
Adopting a friend
Adoption donations vary depending on the dog's medical bills but generally range from $95 (most adults) to $150. Each dog will be medically treated and up to date at the advice of a veternarian, altered, fully vaccinated and health checked. Each dog is an individual and different rules may apply. Personality, whether the dogs are advisable with toddlers, whether the dog is good with other dogs, cats, housebroken, crate trained need to be confirmed with the contact person noted in the biography.
